This is the second book of a trilogy that is part of the YA series of the Dragonlance lore. In this one, our companions learn that they need to break two more curses before Nearra's family magic can be restored. Along the way they will fight dragons, evil mages, and centaurs.I am not feeling this trilogy. The YA series has been enjoyable but this series is not doing it for me. I do like the message about family and sisters trying to reconnect with each other. The only character I can stand is Keene who is kender. They have a happy go lucky attitude but this book has the kender exploring a darker road. These two aspects are the only reason I gave this a two star rating. Everything else is just not working. I cannot stand the portrayal of the established characters. It feels like this author did not read the previous books. We also have the trope where a character does not communicate with another character and that leads to a more arduous adventure. The problem with this trope and this book is that every character is not communicating with each other. I can understand one or two but all of them? I feel like this was done just for the sake of drama.I will finish this trilogy but so far I have not been impressed. I don't like characters that I have previously liked. The new ones are not impressive either. I believe because of the characters I am not really into the adventure and I just want to get it over with so I can move on the next YA trilogy.
