This is the fourth book of Shelby Cross' that I've read, and I would advise potential readers to first read Masters of the Hotel Bentmoore: The Complete Collection so they have the complete context as to how Mr Brian Sinclaire and Samantha, the main characters, met and events so far. This story has tried to develop the characters, and give them a relationship outside of the Bentmoore Hotel, where of course Sam was a paying customer, and Mr was one of the Hotel's paid hosts and Master Sadist. Some things were not ringing true, the polite and friendly courtship of a few weeks of wondering If they will ever get there act together...and after all the things they did together at the Hotel...didn't feel right. Maybe a week...but no more:)I like the sex and BDSM scenes they have together, so arousing, but one weakness, I can't imagine someone achieving subspace from words alone, subspace is when adrenaline, endorphins and seratonin floods the body, the bodies natural painkillers and feel good chemicals mixed. So if Ms Cross said Samantha's mindset was focused or in the zone it would be more accurate and believable than saying she was in subspace from him talking to her. There is a story that runs alongside their story, one of warning and a bit of a whodunit or who tried to do it.It links in to date drape drugs in drinks in clubs, a fact to be aware of. Most will realise who the perpetrator is, but is an added thread of interest. This book also clearly clarifies an issue I have criticised in prior first book regards use of condoms as barrier to STD/STI's and unwanted pregnancy, as no condoms were used at the hotel.Occasional typos that didn't spoil my reading but I noticed them. Prior books I rated between 4 and 5 stars, this isn't quite as good IMO but still recommend it as a continuity and development story and give it 3.5 starsI look forward to reading more of Bentmoore Hotel and associates.
