O.....M.....G!!!!! I knew from reading the synopsis on this book it was going to be a tearjerker but that still in no way prepared me for what I was about to read!! I finished this book a few days ago and I am just now sitting down to write my review because I still have so many emotions running wild thru my head. I can definitely without a doubt at this moment say, this is my top 2014 book so far!! I will recommend this book to everyone. Even as sad as it is, the events that take place are so real that it just hits home. Never take life for granted. This story revolves around Lynsie, Lincoln and Dax. Lynsie and Lincoln have the perfect life and marriage. Dax has been Lincoln's best friend since they were small boys and over the last few years the 3 have formed a special bond. When tragedy strikes and Lynsie's world is left in shambles will Dax be able to pick up the pieces and help Lynsie heal? Will Lynsie ever be able to spread her wings and fly again??I LOVED Dax!!! From the start of the book he had my heart. Don't get me wrong, I loved Lincoln as well but I knew going in how things were going to end with him so I tried to keep my heart guarded. Dax was so sweet and caring when it came to Lynsie. No matter how hard she tried to hook him up and find him a date it never worked because no one could compare to that special girl who already had his heart. He never imagined things would go the way they did but he saw it as a sign they were meant to be when they did. "But now you know that I will always be yours.....always have been.""I love you," I whisper, pressing my nose to her forehead. "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone or anything in my entire life. You own me, Lynsie. I've never even had a choice." I could go on and on about this book but I don't want to give anything away. All I can say is please go one click it now, yes, your heart will break but you will also smile and be happy at the end. You will NOT regret one clicking this book!! There are a few characters in this book I am still curious on so I am hoping that maybe in the future they will get a story of their own. I need to know more about Echo and Dustin. How about Peterson?? Gahhhh, I love you and your books Mrs. Ashby!! I can't wait for more!! <3

**ARC received in exchange for honest review**Emotion. That is the one word I keep coming back to when I think about Broken Wings. This latest book by the wonderful Erika Ashby is so filled with emotion that I’m left with all kinds of feelings long after having finished it. There is a sadness that stayed with me throughout most of the story and is still in my heart but at the same time there is joy and hopefulness and somehow it all fits together perfectly. Lynsie and Lincoln are living a dream. Lincoln is a military pilot doing what he loves, and Lynsie is living the Army life she’s always known and loved. The love they feel for each other bursts through the pages and makes you smile right along with them. Dax Adams, Lincoln’s best friend since high school and now his co-pilot, is also a huge part of their life. Lynsie wants nothing more than to see him settle down with the “right” girl, but Dax does not make this easy. In fact he knows deep down he may never have his one chance at true love and happiness, he’s been hurt before long ago. The story that follows is one of love, happiness, excitement, tragedy, and ultimately triumph. What did I love about this book? It all comes back to the emotional elements of this story. The feelings invoked while reading are so strong. I felt like I was right beside Lynsie every step of the way, through the good and the bad. I cried. A LOT. Get your tissues ready. And even when I had to pause my reading (which was not easy to do) to go about my day, I found myself still thinking about the characters and what they were all going through. I went to sleep wondering what I would do in their place. Would I be as strong as they are? To me this is a sign of a very well written book. I read every day, and there is nothing I enjoy more than when an author’s characters stay with me beyond the pages. And because Erika Ashby knows her readers expect a military book to have some hotness, she doesn’t let us down. It is there, yet is definitely not the focus of the story. I will say that when there is sex it is hot, it is passionate and it fits the story perfectly. Broken Wings is absolutely by far Erika Ashby’s best work to date. I’ve been a fan and known her for a while now, and this book is like nothing she’s ever written. She has gone above and beyond with this story, and I am truly proud of her accomplishment. She captured the emotional elements of the story perfectly and really makes the reader feel for these characters. She is also quite knowledgeable about Army life and it shows in her attention to detail and accuracy. As a reader you can see her passion for this story shining through as you read. Erika has grown as a writer and her hard work and dedication to doing what she loves has paid off. Broken Wings is on the longer side, so be sure you have the time to devote to it. At times I did find myself wondering if it could have been slightly shorter. But in truth I think this is how the story needed to be told and it works. Believe me you will not want to put it down once you start reading. I am in love with this story and want to thank Erika Ashby for bringing it to life. The many tears I shed were completely 100% worth it.

Book – Broken WingsAuthor – Erika AshbyPublication Date – March 6, 2014Type – Stand AloneGenre – RomanceRating – 4 out of 5 StarsComplimentary copy kindly provided by author (Blog Tour) in exchange for an honest review.ReviewI found the beginning of this story very long and I believe it over stressed the love which was shared between Lynsie and Lincoln.  As soon as the life changing event happens though, that is when the story really picks up and I found myself mesmerized into what was going to happen next.Lincoln and Lynsie have the best relationship a married couple could have except for the fact that his job puts him in danger more than Lynsie wants to deal with.  Lynsie wants to settle down and start a family but Lincoln continues to put her off, putting his career first.  Once Lincoln finds out a friend of his from flight training dies in an accident, he agrees with Lynsie that it’s time to start trying to have a baby.Lynsie in the mean time continues to try and play matchmaker for Dax, who is Lincoln’s best friend since childhood.  Dax continues to dodge the bullet with being set up because his eyes are for only one lady who he can’t have.It isn’t until a tragic accident during a flight show, that Lynsie’s life dramatically changes for the worst.  She is left alone with her family and Dax by her side.  Dax refuses to give up on Lynsie and steps in to help her through all the tough times to come.  It is through his dedication and loyalty to Lynsie that the friendship starts to turn into more. This is a beautiful love story stemming from a journey through depression, sadness and lose.Wrap-UpI choked up a few times and felt the pain Lynsie was going through – all in all this was a great book (once you got past the long beginning.)For more reviews, Free E-books and Giveaways

Broken Wings was an incredible read. I knew the basic plot line of this story, but it still didn't make me feel anything less than if I hadn't known anything. This story happens over the course of a year. It's based about Lynsie. She's happily in love with her pilot husband, Lincoln. Their love truly shines off the pages. They are amazing together. And he treats her soooo well. They truly have a great marriage.Dax is Lincoln's best friend, who is also a pilot in the Army. He is swoon-worthy dreamy. No matter how many times Lynsie tries to set him up with girls, it never works out. Lynsie starts to think that maybe she's just not as good as setting people up as she thought. However, that's not the reason Dax isn't interested in those other girls. He's interested in someone else. Someone he can't have. You will cry, you will laugh, and you will smile reading this book. Erika has a great way setting up each scene. You can literally see the scene unfolding as if it's happening right before you. I cried so hard at parts. I kept wishing things would get better for Lynsie. But she had a right to feel how she did. Her actions and motives were acceptable for what she'd been through. You just keep hoping she gets her happily ever after. She deserves it more than anyone. You won't be disappointed in Broken Wings! It's truly an amazing read! 5 Stars!*I was gifted a copy to read and review*

First I want to start off by saying I have always been in Erika’s corner cheering her on to follow her dream of writing and I have enjoyed reading all her books but this one is so much different. I am so very proud of her for taking the chance on a military romance and nailing it. She has shown so much growth in her writing and I was blown away by Broken Wings.Although I can’t go into great detail about the story without giving it away I can tell you that Broken Wings was absolutely beautiful. The storyline was very near and dear to my heart and Erika wrote it and you could tell she put her heart and soul into every detail. Going the extra mile to actually stat facts in the story made it more real and I was excited that she did that.“I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone or anything in my entire life. You own me, Lynsie. I’ve never even had a choice.”Lynsie is a strong woman who lives through a tragedy that most of us haven’t experienced and she responded to that tragedy the best way she knew how. Everyone reacts to tragedy differently and my heart broke for Lynsie and I found myself wanting to comfort her and assure her that everything in time would get better. Lincoln absolutely adored Lynsie and Erika did a wonderful job showing us that. He would walk on fire for her and she was the love of his life. Anything and everything that she wanted, he wanted to give her. If he could give her the moon it would. He was brave and determined to follow is passion and truly believed in everything he did. “Love you to the sky and back, Lynsie Pearl.”I purse my lips. “You know, technically, the sky isn’t that far away.”“Are you questioning the depth of my love?” He grins at me. “Who’s to say how far the sky really is? No matter how many times you traveled it back and forth, there’d be no way to cover every single inch of it. There is so much blue up there, it puts the moon to shame.” He stares out the window, eyes lifted toward the sky with a grin spread across his face.“Fine,” I let out an exaggerated sigh. “Since you put it like that.” I lean across the console, placing my lips against his. “I love you to the sky and back too, Lincoln Shane.”Dax stole my heart from the very beginning. There was a twinkle in his eye for Lynsie from the very beginning. He was a loyal friend to Lincoln and in turn a loyal friend to Lynsie. Although he had a tough exterior he was sweet and kind and would always follow through on his promises no matter what they were. When tragedy strikes Lynsie, Lincoln, and Dax, he finds himself in a position to do what he was asked to do and he wouldn’t let anything stop him from keeping his promise.“Thank you,” she says, squeezing our joined hands.“For what?” I rub my thumb along the top of her hand.“For just being you.” She yawns.“I’ll be whatever you need, Lynsie,” I tell her, just above a whisper as she starts to finally doze off and I feel close behind her. There was a great shock that left Lynsie almost paralyzed with fear. Fear of failing, fear of not being enough but with her loved ones by her side she would make it through those fears and stop at nothing but to be the best she could be. “Nothing more beautiful than a blue sky.”Can Lynsie learn to fly again after being completed shattered by events in her life? Will Dax keep his promise and protect the one he loves? Will Lincoln give Lynsie the one thing that she has desperately wanted for a long time and after the horrific tragedy can Lynsie learn to mend her Broken Wings and learn to fly again?

*ARC provided by the author in exchange for my honest review.Epic. That was the word that entered my head the minute I had finished this ‘unputdownable’ book. I am over the moon that Ms Ashby was persuaded to do a military story and with that she has created an absolutely beautiful and heart wrenching tale that deservedly is a five star (ten stars!) read for me.Lynsie Fox is the woman who has everything but then tragedy strikes leaving her with nothing, or is there hope she has been given a second chance by fate or had fate already driven the path she was unknowingly on?Oh WOW where to start? OK. Lincoln Fox is a hot military man with all that that entails (big swoon!) and to top that he is a pilot. In the army. (Even bigger swoons!) But even more than that he loves his wife, his Lynsie Pearl. In the first part of the book we delve into the lives and love of Lynsie and Lincoln and their hopes for the future. To further encompass this perfect world is Dax, Lincoln’s best friend since forever and now also the best friend of his wife.Lynsie is such a wonderfully strong woman, even in the depth of the deepest anguish she should ever know she fights it head on, knowing she has to come through this. However at first she cuts off everyone she knows, as is her coping mechanism, but one person she cannot cope without is Dax. Only Dax could really understand what she is feeling and she leans on him as her anchor in a storm. In doing so she doesn’t realise that she is also helping Dax to live through the most distraught time of his life.I was drawn to Dax from the first page, he was so heartbreakingly gorgeous with his scruffy but sexy blonde hair. He was devoted to his best friend and wife, hiding his own deepest feelings and always putting others first before himself. Such a wonderful and selfless man. How could anyone not fall in love with this character? A man with a kiss in his name is one I shall forever hold dear.I can’t really divulge too much about the storyline as it really does need to be experienced every glorious step by step and turn of the page. It had me in floods of tears in parts and then later in sighs of bliss in others. It was hauntingly enthralling that all I could do was read, nothing else could drag me away from reading this.It was so beautifully written and yes there were parts I did not want to turn the page as I knew it was going to break my heart but the way it evolved from the pages just tempted me further in. It opened my eyes to the dangers our military personnel not only come up against in war but also on home shores undertaking routine training and skills.Throughout the read there were various songs that came into my head and yes Wings Beneath My Wings was one of them. There was also John Legend’s All of Me and Westlife’s Flying Without Wings which made the tears flow faster I can tell you!It was such an amazing and emotional read and by far the best I have read by Ms Ashby (and that takes some beating) It resonated deep in my heart that even after I had finished reading it I felt the loss even weeks later. I really can not recommend this book enough. For one who loves military romance this just hit all my expectations and needs. Beautifully done. I think I cried through this whole book. Most books only have about a chapter before the character dies, this one had about a third of the book. I really got to know Lincoln and the rest of the story broke my heart. A great read, but absolutely gutted me!!

5 Fantastic Stars!I loved this book, hard. It made me feel ALL the feels. I was all over the place emotionally. I finished the book Thursday and it's Monday, I am still thinking about it. 2% in, I already loved Lynsie, Lincoln, and Dax. I feel like that’s a tough thing to do, grab someone’s attention from the get go. And the whole beginning had me feeling a strong sense of foreboding. Like I knew something terrible was going to happen the whole time. And as much sadness as there was in this book- there was so much happy that I was afraid my face was going to crack from all the smiling. "I love you," I whisper, pressing my nose to her forehead. "I love you more than I've ever loved anyone or anything in my entire life. You own me, Lynsie. I've never even had a choice." Lynsie and Lincoln are married, and quite the adorable pair. Lincoln is a military pilot doing what he loves, and Lynsie is a hairdresser. She knows the army life well, being as how her father is an Army pilot too. “Love you to the sky and back, Lynsie Pearl.I purse my lips. “You know, technically, the sky isn’t that far away.”Are you questioning the depth of my love?” He grins at me. “I love you to the sky and back too, Lincoln Shane.” Dax Adams is Lincoln’s best friend and his co-pilot, he is a huge part of their life as well. Lynsie keeps setting him up with different girls, but he feels like he won’t ever have his chance to fall in love. He was hurt before and doesn’t want that to happen again. And the truth is, the person he is in love with, he can never have. But that doesn’t stop him from being loyal to Lincoln and Lynsie when tragedy strikes. “Thank you,” she says, squeezing our joined hands.“For what?” I rub my thumb along the top of her hand.“For just being you.” She yawns.“I’ll be whatever you need, Lynsie,” I tell her, just above a whisper as she starts to finally doze off and I feel close behind her. I connected totally to Lynsie, for some reason. I think her being happily married and living a good life reminded me a little of myself. She was a strong and sassy character too, which I love in a heroine. I felt everything that she felt; good and bad. I cried, for sure. I cried until my vision was blurry and I had to stop reading for a minute to gain composure. And I gasped- audibly. Like, “ohmygod is this really happening right now?” When I had to take breaks, I wanted to go right back to reading. I would think about where I left off, and where the story was ultimately going to end up. I read every day, and it’s hard to find a book that touches me, as much as this book did.The steam and sexy factor is there, but it takes a back burner to the rest of the story and I was totally ok with that, to be honest. I loved how sweet the characters were. And without giving too much away- I am totally in love with how it ends. “Sometimes we don`t know how strong we truly are, until we have no choice.”This was my first Erika Ashby book, and it won’t be my last. She has written such a great story. She really makes you feel what these characters are feelings. She had amazing detail when it came to Army life and that showed some true work. I can’t wait to see if there will be more in this series. I found a new author I can fangirl on, and I couldn’t be more excited!

"Live life to the fullest, no matter what comes your way." Lynsie Pearl is a military child who of course married a military man. She is beautiful, smart, and funny. Her life was complete with her husband Lincoln Fox by her side. Lincoln Fox is a pilot in the Army. He is good at what he does. He is lucky not only is he serving with his best friend Dax Adams but also with his father in law.Lincoln is Hot let me tell you and the things that come out of his mouth..."Nothing about you could ever bore me. Especially watching you sleep and listening to all the little noises you make. It's something I should've done long ago."and my favorite:"I love you to the sky and back, Lynsie Pearl."Let me tell you being a military wife this book struck so close to my heart. The emotions this book draws out of you is just unbelievable. The characters are so rich in detail that you feel like you are right beside them. I bawled and bawled and bawled through this book ladies. I won't lie about that!! have your tissue ready!! " Sometimes we don't know how strong we truly are, until we have no choice."The life rollercoaster the characters in this book go through brought forward real fears that I think all military families have. In fact I actually ran and hugged my husband as he walked in the door from work, while reading this book! LOL!! But there were also some funny parts and some really HOT parts. I mean come on with Characters like Dax and Lincoln you have to have some HOT scenes and Erika does not disappoint!! I love that Dax, Lincoln and Lynsie are written in a way that is so real and honest, that you can't help but fall in love with all of them. You are so emotionally upset but at the same time you know they are strong and can get through whatever comes their way. I have read all of this authors books and by far this is her greatest work. She has really stepped it up a few levels. The story line and the characters are just amazing. I am so excited to see what she has planned next. 5 stars!!!

4.5 StarsWarning: Make sure you have a box of tissues sitting next to you while reading Broken Wings. With that said, there also moments of love, healing, intimacy and joy, so don't allow the warning to deter you. This is a beautifully written story that touches your soul. The synopsis for the book is vague and to say anything at all about the details in the book would be a spoiler. I will say though that the plot was intriguing, the storyline was extremely well written and the character development was top notch. At 386 pages, Broken Wings is a long book. However, this really allows Ms. Ashby an opportunity to develop the relationships between Lynsie, Lincoln and Dax, so you are fully invested in this story and what happens with them. The only thing that I would have liked to see was an Epilogue showing the characters a year or more down the road to see how their relationship and family progressed.I'm excited to hear that Ms. Ashby is writing a companion novel, Brokenness, that revolves around Dax's brother, Dustin. Although Dustin plays a small part in Broken Wings I could sense that there was much more to his story, so I'm glad to finally find out what it is.Broken Wings is definitely a Best of 2014 book for me. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Erika Ashby is on my list of must read/go to authors. If you haven't read a book by her yet, I strongly suggest that you check them out!An ARC was kindly provided by the Author for an honest review.Review posted at Love Between the SheetsFollow us on Facebook and Twitter

This is one of the most beautiful and amazing books I have ever read. It's hard to review without giving too much away but this book will touch your heart. The main character, Lynsie, is so strong. Lincoln and his best friend Dax are both so amazing and sweet. This book is incredibly emotional and I don't think anyone could read it without crying but there is also a little humor and a lot of love in this book. The way this book was written is brilliant - it pulls you, touches your heart and stays with you long after you read it. Highly recommend!

Wow!!! I am not one for writing reviews unless the book is so bad I feel like I have to warn people away from it. I have to write something quick for this..... This book was amazing. I was afraid to keep reading but didn't want it to end. It's an emotional roller coaster. Happiness, devastation, despair, tenderness, love, healing. Wow. I wish I knew how to put into words how amazing this book was.

So very emotional but such a great book! Words cannot describe the tragedy in this book. And the damn Tower tape. Omg I was bawling all over again. Dax was simply amazing. It is so refreshing to read books that have nothing to do with manwhores! I loved everything about this book! And it is my favorite out of the books she has written so far. Her first book is a close second!!

Before I even read Broken Wings I knew it was going to be a tearjerker what I didn't expect was this full on emotional assault on my heart. This book completely broke me. Erika Ashby hit this one out of the park.Lynsie and her husband Lincoln are insanely happy, and ready to start a family. He loves her with everything he has, and she loves him back just as much. Lincoln is a pilot in the Army, and is on the fast track to moving up the ranks. Dax is Lincoln's best friend and fellow pilot. He is swoon-worthy to say the least. He is a loyal best friend to Link, standing by him through everything. Lynsie is on a mission to find the perfect woman for Dax only he already knows who the perfect woman is off limits.Broken Wings tore at my heart. In the beginning I was all excited to see a couple so happy, in love and trying to start a family, then my heart got completely shattered. I cried so hard that I had to put my Kindle down and walk away because the tears were making it impossible to continue reading. I felt like I was suffering right along with Lynsie, her emotions ran through me just as blood flows through my veins. I felt it in my heart. Never and mean never felt this emotionally connected to a character. Lynsie is broken but she soon realizes she has to try to move forward. She shows more strength than I can imagine having if I was ever in a similar situation. If I lost my fiancé I do not think I would be able to pick myself up off the ground. Even broken wings heal and eventually you find a reason to try to fly again.

Romance, heartbreak and new beginnings are what wait for the reader.Author Erika Ashby has certainly out done herself with moments of tenderness, soft-spoken words of love and heart wrenching pain. Well versed when detailing life in the military, she did her homework. I’ve been a fan since reading her first book Moving Forward and that’s exactly what she has done. I would suggest you have the tissues ready; you are going to need them.I love a story that can bring me to tears and then cause my heart to skip a beat and rejoice in pure bliss.Right from the start, you can feel the love and friendship shared between Lynsie, Lincoln and Dax. Lynsie and Lincoln are married, living his dream, he’san army pilot and Dax is his lifelong friend. Like the three musketeers they were inseparable. When the unthinkable happens, Dax becomes Lynsie’srock, her support system. Oh my, I loved Dax, his loyalty…his strength…his secret, one thathe has carried with him for a long time. Maybe I can get the author to write a Dax into my life… if only. The characters are strong and believable, easy to like, no douche-bags here.It is sad to think that this mimics every day for those who serve.Anyone who has family or friends in the military will be able to identify with the uncertainty, fear and joy they face every day. A tribute to those who serve, I salute the author!

ARC provided for a honest review. Where do I start with a book like this?I feel like I need a drink. Like a big, tall bottle of Angry Orchard to sooth my soul after this book. It was an emotional and beautiful read. The writing was amazing and I feel like the author really knew what she was writing about. The pain and the heartache is written so real that I honestly felt like my heart was breaking. This is a story that I would imagine is very real. It is probably someone out there's reality and that breaks my heart. To have the kind of love Linc and Lynsie makes you the luckiest person in the world. I can't really say to much about the story without giving anything way. As you read the story you can see where it is going to lead and it breaks your heart as you read it because you just know that's the only way for it to go. When I can figure out the plot and the storyline of the book in the beginning of the book it kind of takes away the "Surprise" factor for me. I like to be BAM that just happened when reading and I never got that with this book. Her male characters were amazing. I am totally #teamdax. He is amazing and just plain perfect. I want a Dax in my life. I would totally leave my husband for him. I did feel that towards the end there was a little too much filler and it dragged the storyline out a little to far. I thought that some parts added to the story but I could have done with out them. At times I felt like I was watching a new age Pearl Harbor storyline but with out the Japanese and missiles. I am curious if there will be more story for Echo. She seems like she has an interesting story behind her.

I'm sitting here... Crying.. Overcome with so much emotion that I cannot breathe. This book touched me. It took hold of my heart and squeezed it with no intention of ever letting go. I knew picking up this book I was in for an emotional rollercoaster but I never imagined I would shed as many tears and go through the whirlwind of emotions this book ensued. From tears to laughter to awe to tears again to just wishing this book would never end(literally watching percent by percent and thinking no! You can't be over) - I am emotionally spent. This book will make you think and feel and empathize with the characters in a way you never thought was possible. As I write this review I'm still recovering from a fresh batch of tears with a box of tissues right by my side. Broken Wings teaches you that life may throw you curve balls and you may think there is no way you will make it.. But there's always beauty always light at the end of what seems to be a dark tunnel. This book changed me and I rarely ever say that. Well written, extraordinary characters, and a perfect pace .. This was golden. Good books can permanently etch themselves into a piece of your heart, take root and teach you something you may never have realized before. For those wondering if they should read this book..... Read it, because sometimes... You've just got to fly.

Erika Ashby has outdone herself with this book. I have read all her previous works, but this one is by far her best.I was blown away by the story and the myriad of emotions that it evokes. One piece of advice though, DO NOT READ WHILE AT WORK!!! There is a slight chance that people might look at you funny when they see you crying your eyes out ;-)I fell in love with this wonderful trio; Lynsie and Lincoln, the perfect married couple, and Dax, their best friend, whom they can always count on. When tragedy strikes and Lynsie finds her world in shambles, Dax steps in to help her pick up the pieces. It is so heartbreaking to live through the pain right along with her, but also very heartwarming to see her growth and healing. The relationship that blossoms from this tragedy is so amazing and you get to experience the confusion and butterflies that the characters are feeling. The story is so well written and the character development goes at just the perfect pace.To say that I loved this story and these characters is an understatement.Broken Wings is a book that should be in everyone's hands.

"When you feel like falling, don't forget to spread your wings." Ok, so I knew going into this book that something tragic was going to happen but I wasn't prepared for the emotional roller coaster. This was a beautiful story of love, loss, friendship, and moving on. I loved this book and all the characters and could've read more. Lincoln was a beautiful, loving, sexy and selfless person. I love Dax and his loyalty to his best friend and his determination to see Lynsie through the heartbreak not taking the time to think about himself. All the characters were wonderful and I'm hoping there's a story with Dax's brother Dustin(I'm soooo curious) and even Peterson and of course we'd get more of Dax and Lynsie. Thank you Erika for another wonderful never disappoint. "There's nothing more beautiful than a blue sky..."

Great book! I was so hesitant to purchase this book because of the preview of the story. I was thinking how on earth am I going to like reading a book about a girl who loses her husband and then jumps in bed with his best friend. I just didnt think I could get on board with something like that, but I was WRONG! I tried the sample and was hooked. Erika developed all the characters and let us have a glimpse of Lynsies relationship with her husband before his death. We fell in love with Linc and Dax, which was what pulled at my heartstrings when watching Dax and Lynsie fall in love too! Their love, especially Daxs for Lynsie was so evident and really unconditional. Watching them build a new relationship and watching Dax show extreme patience waiting for Lynsies feelings to play catch up was heartwarming. The journey of love, loss and love again was perfect. This book was a five star read!!

...this is so hard to review without giving anything away. Only that it's incredibly emotional, pulls and pushes at you - and, Dax, well, he's just amazing. Highly recommend to all that love the angst, as well as little humour and a whole lotta love. I'd love to read more from this verse, these characters.

I've read this author's other book, Save Me From Me, and I seriously loved it, so I was looking forward to reading more from her! When I first heard about this book, I knew I was going to need tissues and I was going to have a book hangover after reading it lol! And I can say that I was exactly right lol! This is one of the most emotional books I've ever read! I must have went through an entire box of tissues while reading it! It had the kind of plot that you know what's going to happen, but you don't want it to happen! I feel that these kind of plots make you connect more with the book and the characters, which is probably why I cried so much lol! Who am I kidding! I would have cried just as much as I did if I hadn't know what was going to happen! The synopsis gives you a pretty good idea of what happens in the plot, but I love that it keeps it quite vague as well! I do have to admit that I did kind of guess quite a few things that were going to happen in the plot as it progressed, but the plot was so beautifully written and there were some twits and turns in it too! The characters were amazing! Lynsie was the main female character and my heart completely went out to her in this book! I got to experience her when she was happy and she had everything to look forward too, and then I watched it all be taken away in a second! After what Lynsie goes through, she relies on the main male character in this book, Dax! I could see why Lynsie did that because Dax reminded Lynsie of her husband and that's what Lynsie needed, but as the book progressed, Lynsie started to develop feelings for Dax and she didn't know how to handle them! Lynsie learns how to spread her wings though and learns how to let go and live again! Dax was one of the kinda main male characters in this book! I loved Dax! He was such a sweetheart and my heart went out to him as well because he had just lost one of his best friends! Dax was so brave though because he sort of put his grief to one side and made sure that Lynsie was okay and he tried to ease her suffering! You could easily see that Dax had had feelings for Lynsie for ages before he admitted them to her, but I really admired Dax for keeping his feelings to himself and not trying to cause trouble between Lynsie and her husband and then after for letting her grief! I wasn't expecting this book to be written from both Lynsie and Dax's point of views, so I was pretty surprised when Dax's point of view came up, but it was definitely essential because of what happens in the plot! I also loved this book even more because it was written from both of the main characters point of views! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything is sort of wrapped up and the characters learn how to live again and how to let go, but still remember! I've just discovered though that there's going to be a companion novel that focuses on Dex's brother, Dustin! I'm so freaking excited to read it and get inside Dustin's head! I was really intrigued by him in this book! The cover for this book is unbelievable! It suits the book 100%! I can't get over how beautiful it is! It's stunning! Big thank you to Erika for an ARC of Broken Wings and to Enticing Journey Book Promotions!

We all have that special set of authors. They are not many. They that special few. You probably count them on one hand. You own everything they write. You feel the rest of the world needs to read everything they write because they are that great. Erika is one of those authors for me. I have been with her since she started her journey writing. I fell in love with her from her first book, Moving Forward. I have seen her change, grow and develop as author and it has been wonderful thing to witness. I was also lucky enough to become friends with her which just makes her accomplishments mean that much more. She completely out did herself with Broken Wings. Lynsie, Lincoln and Dax’s story is far from easy. It will literally break your heart then piece it back together again.I am going to try and start from the beginning but I still kinda loopy from being sick so bear with me. I read a lot books…I am a blogger. Since I read a lot of books…you can start to see where the story is gonna go from the first few chapters but its the good writers that even if your mind knows what may or may not happen, you heart is still broken when it finally occurs. That is what Erika did to me. I had an idea from the beginning what was gonna happen but when it did….I sobbed. Mind you…I am sick as a dog so sobbing while already congested was not fun :( but I just could not stop the tears. This story was beautifully written and showed the true evolution of life and relationships. It proved that you CANNOT CONTROL EVERYTHING and life just happens sometimes. And it sucks. And it will break your heart but it will also make you stronger. Better. Show you who are the people that really matter in your life. I think this probably hit me the hardest because I have been there. I had life beat the [email protected] out of me almost 4 years ago. I thought I would never find the light at the end of the tunnel but I did and I am better for it. It changed me and made me better, sadly that is all the we can really ask for when something bad happens to you. You can’t change what is…you can only hope you end up better for it.You are going to love all the characters in this book. Main and secondary. They all bring something to the story that is invaluable. They all play a part. Dax and Lincoln are both swoon worthy ***fans self*** while Lynsie is character you can help but fall in love with. I loved all the aviation stuff. Who knew I had thing for planes when I hate flying but the way she wrote almost made me want to learn to fly. I really hope we get to explore the storylines of the secondary characters she introduced. I want more from Peterson, Megan, Dustin and Echo.Erika brings together sweet, sexy, funny and sad moments to weave this beautiful story. That is her talent and the reason I read anything she writes. Another must read from Erika.

Broken Wings by Erika Ashby was breathtakingly beautiful! When I read the synopsis of this book I already knew that this was going to be an emotional journey. This is a story that kept me turning the pages until early morning and it left me emotionally drained!!! ***Ugly Cry Alert***At this point of my review I usually include a little recap of the story. This time ... I won't. Everybody that picks up this book needs to feel every single emotion that Erika Ashby's outstanding novel makes you live. I'm writing my review with tears in my eyes. I just finished reading this phenomenal story and I can't fall asleep! This story was one of the most REAL, HONEST, POWERFUL stories that I have ever read! It was beautiful to see how the power of love healed these characters. Their journey was far from easy, but by taking it one day at a time and with the support of each other and their loved ones they were able to start living again. This is a story that will break your heart and you will, just like them, be picking up the pieces of your broken heart and you will be healing by their side one chapter at a time. Broken Wings will make you cry happy and sad tears.Lincoln, Lynsie and Dax will captivate you. They will steal your heart from the moment you meet them and their story will linger with you for a long time. Erika Ashby's writing style is absolutely fantastic! The way she wrote this book, which is written in Dual POV, was phenomenal!!! These are all characters that you can relate to. My connection with these characters was strong and my heart was aching for them. I had to stop reading because I could not see the words in front of me! You definitely will need a box of tissues while reading Broken Wings. This was my first time reading a book by Erika Ashby. I am looking forward to reading any previous books of hers and I can't wait to see what she will be writing next. I really hope one of her future books is one about Dustin, Dax's brother, and Echo, Lynsie's friend. I'm really curious to see what happened to them all those years ago. I'm crossing my fingers that Behind Blue Eyes, which is available to add on your TBR list on Goodreads, will be about them :)I give, Broken Wings, by Erika Ashby 5 touching, beautiful, powerful, inspiring stars! I highly recommend this fantastic novel!

First off, I would like to than Erika for giving me an ARC of Broken Wings in exchange for an honest review. I am truly honored.WOW. This book will be, without a doubt, one of my top 5 reads of 2014. A beautiful story of love, loss, heroism, fate, and learning to keep going even when you feel like the world is crumbling around you. This is a book that you will think about, dream about, long after you have turned the last page. These characters took up residence in my heart and don't want to leave.Lynsie, Lincoln, and Dax have a bond, a friendship that is so deep that you could feel the love they had for one another. They would do anything for each other and I love them for that. They know how to have a good time and some of the banter between made me crack up. I seriously love them! This story is emotional. So much so that i needed to take a break to get my emotions in check. The connections I felt with these characters was like nothing I have ever experienced before. This is a story that could so easily be someone's reality and knowing that made it so much more real for me.If i could give this book 10 stars I would. I have been a fan of Erika's since her first book released and have loved all of them since. In my opinion, this is Erika's best book to date. Her writing style has definitely developed. It is evident that Erika put a lot of time an research into this book. Not being familiar with military terms or planes myself,I wasn't sure what to expect. But, i shouldn't have worried.Erika did a great job of clearly describing everything. Her characters are well developed and so lovable. The sex scenes, while they weren't the focus of the story, are still hot and steamy and added just the perfect amount of romance.I think that everyone needs to read this book. Be prepared for an emotional journey that will stick with you long after you have finished reading. I loved this story and highly recommend it. Be prepared to spend your day reading because once you start, you wont want to put it down. 5 stars just doesn't seem like enough!

How do i start with this review? Wow! Just wow! I am actually struck speechless! I've been a fan of Erika Ashby since her first book and this one just blew me away! The tears I cried were innumerable. The feelings this book exudes is devastating and beautiful. Lincoln, oh Lincoln. I guess it's not a spoiler since the description tells you that Lynsie loses the love of her life. His love for his wife was evident all the way from the beginning. I cried a hundred tears knowing he wasn't going to make it in this book. With each day past, each chapter read, I was on edge. I had an inkling of when tragedy would strike but it still hit me hard all the same. Dax, what a man! I feel myself singing that song now just thinking about him! He is truly a wonderful soul! His dedication to his friendship with Lincoln and Lynsie is what true friends really is about. How he stuck by and hid his own feelings just to help Lynsie heal was nothing short of amazing. His own experiences were just as heart wrenching as his best friends death.! No woman should have to lose the love of her life the way she did. And to witness it first hand right in front of her eyes, I don't think I would've ever been able to handle that. Her love for her husband was a love in the truest form. I felt each and every one of her feelings as if they were my own. She had a wonderful support system but only wanted to rely on one man to help her through. For a long time, I didn't know if she would open up to love again. But when she finally did, I couldn't gave been happier.I don't have one negative thing about this book! Well, yeah I do....the book ended! I could read more of this story as it was written so beautifully and with such passion.Reading the acknowledgements and learning that the author actually pulled life experience from her own father made this story mean even that much more! Bravo Erika! Furking Bravo! 5++++++++++ stars! Well deserved!

OMGOODNESS, this book needs a box of tissue by your side whenyou read it. A story i won't be forgetting for a long while, & i will certainly reread it again.Lynsie and Lincoln were so sweet and loving together. Lincoln was like the ideal loving husband! And i adore how much Lynsie and Dax cares for one another, aargh! I want to have a best friend like Dax Adams too!!!!And at the very point where (view spoiler)[ Lynsie and Dax witnessedthe planes crashed(hide spoiler)] i could totally imagine what itfeels like to (view spoiler)[ witness the incident and also what's of Lincoln remains is just his dog tag?!(hide spoiler)] *wallows in despair*It was really gut-wrenching and on top of that, (view spoiler)[ findingout she's finally pregnant after Lincoln's death it's so saddening(hide spoiler)]I placed myself in Lynsie's shoes, I would probably wished the one who died was (view spoiler)[ her father(hide spoiler)] instead. Dax Adams, he's officially one of my book boyfriends now!I loved and very envious of how much Dax cares for Lynsie, the love and concern for Lynsie, he's a man every woman would keep, except for Amber or Amanda whatever that bitch's name is, i couldn't care less to remember, but yeah! Dax was being there for Lynsie throughout and the book reminds me of Pearl Harbor !! The ending was really good and it just make me melt! Thanks for writing another good book, Erika Ashby :)x["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I was given a ARC in exchange for my honest review.Wow. This book blew me away. Erika outdoes herself yet again. From the start you can see and feel how much Lincoln and Lynsie love each other and then there is their best friend Dax. These are a trio if I ever saw one. The relationship this bunch has is very touching and emotional. Let me tell you now you will need A LOT of kleenex. I am still sobbing while writing this. It`s a tear jerker for sure. Lynsie`s life is perfect. She has the perfect life. And then all hell breaks loose and her life will never be the same. I really cannot give much more away then that. Anything more would give it away. All I can say is Lynsie`s life is shattered and she must pick of the pieces of her life. But will she be able to do that? will she be able to spread her wings and soar again? can Dax find happiness and a life he deserves of his own? you will have to read to find out all these answers. But let me tell you it is an amazingly beautiful story. Very touching and it was hard to put down once started. A must read.“ The way you taste, baby, it puts every rainbow to shame.”“Sometimes it`s when you aren`t looking that you find what you`ve been needing all along without ever knowing it was what you wanted.”“Sometimes we don`t know how strong we truly are, until we have no choice.”“I have a feeling you were made just for me,”“Wherever we land, I know you`ll catch me. And that`s the best damn feeling ever.”“the love I feel for you is unreal, I`ve never felt this type of love before. I believe you`re the one for me. My soul mate.”

WOW! What a beautifully written, emotionally charged, amazing story about love, loss and learning to fly again. This is my favorite book by Erika Ashby by far. I have always loved Erika, but her writing truly shined in this book! She knocked it out of the park!!! It did start out a little slow for me but that was not a bad thing. She built such a strong foundation to the story that the slow build payed off in the end. By building this foundation you couldn’t help but fall in love with these amazing characters. This was a story with so many different layers that it can not be rushed. It would have been an injustice to this story to write it any other way. I savored every moment of it. I will say that for the most part I was a complete mess but never wanted to put the book down. I loved seeing the characters so broken yet so strong! This book evokes so many emotions and I loved the fact that even though I would be bawling one moment, the next moment could have me chuckling. That is life, it knocks you down but you have to see the humor in it some times. The military aspect of the story is not familiar to me. I have not lived that lifestyle. I will say the attention to detail is this aspect was remarkable. I never felt like I didn’t understand it. Lincoln, Lynsie and Dax are extraordinary characters that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I wont say any more because you need to read this book for yourself. Just know this is a must read book with an touching storyline and beautiful writing.5 *****♥ Sophie

2018-10-02 01:07 Wings is an emotionally powerful read that will have you heartbroken one moment and hopeful the next. I’ve read all of Erika Ashby’s novels, and this is by far her best one yet.Lynsie Fox is living a fairy tale until her life comes crashing around her. Left to pick up the pieces and cope with the unexpected, Lynsie must rebuild and regain her footing or drown in the turbulence. Her character was easy to love and my heart ached for her struggles. At times I wanted to hug her. Other times I wanted to scream in her face to open her eyes and snap out of it. This story is anything but dull. I was blown away. Erika will toy with your emotions from start to finish. You’ll laugh, cry, feel hopeful, and cry some more. It is a roller coaster. Her writing is beautiful and leads you down a path of destruction and redemption. I won’t give away any of the plot, but I will say this story will captivate you and linger in your mind long after you’ve finished.Erika Ashby has written a phenomenal story with Broken Wings. It will shatter your heart and gently piece it back together just in time for a heartwarming ending. I highly recommend this novel for anyone looking for their next incredible read.
